Our team of experts specializes in keeping your timepieces in top condition, so you can enjoy them for years to come.

General Guidelines

Regardless of the age or model of your watch, the guidelines for its care and handling are generally consistent. Here are several strategies to ensure your watch remains in excellent condition and continues to function effectively over time.

Essentials

Selecting the appropriate materials for cleaning your watch is crucial, as using unsuitable items such as an ordinary laundry rag could potentially damage your timepiece. Instead, choose a soft, lint-free cotton cloth to gently remove stains and water spots from the case, glass, and band of your watch. Regular cleaning of these elements daily will help maintain the watch's luster over time.

Furthermore, dirt, dust, and other pollutants may accumulate in the links and bracelet of your watch. To address this, detach the links and bracelet every few months for a comprehensive cleaning using warm soapy water. After cleaning, ensure that all soap residues are thoroughly rinsed off with clean water, and the components are completely dried before reassembling the watch. This precaution helps prevent any moisture from entering the timepiece.

Metal Bracelets

Daily exposure to sweat, dust, and various contaminants can degrade the quality of your metal bracelet. To effectively clean your bracelet, utilize a toothbrush with warm soapy water. Gently scrub the bracelet with the soapy toothbrush to lift and remove grime. After scrubbing, it is crucial to rinse the bracelet thoroughly with clear water. Ensure the bracelet is completely dry before reattaching it to your watch to avoid any moisture damage to the timepiece.

Leather Straps

Perspiration and other environmental pollutants can deplete the natural oils in a leather band, leading to its gradual deterioration. To preserve the integrity of your leather watchband, promptly remove any moisture by gently wiping it with a dry cloth or paper towel. Additionally, any soil or salt residue on the band should be cleaned off using a damp cloth or mild soap.

For the internal components of the watch, cleaning with alcohol is permissible but should be done sparingly to avoid damage. Furthermore, wearing the band somewhat loosely around your wrist is advisable to facilitate air circulation, which can help in maintaining the condition of the leather over time.

Silicon Straps

Silicone straps, being less durable than other types of watchbands, require frequent cleaning to maintain their condition. To clean a silicone strap, employ mild soap and a soft brush, gently scrubbing the band until it appears thoroughly clean. This cleaning method is also effective for removing residues from substances such as tanning lotions, oils, and salt that may come into contact with the watch.

Cell Replacement

Should the power cell of your watch need replacing, it is advisable to have this service performed at an authorized service center specific to your watch's brand. Opening the back of your timepiece can potentially affect its internal mechanisms and may impact the warranty.

Water Resistance

Like many modern devices, watches vary significantly in their level of water resistance. It is crucial to understand your watch's specific water resistance rating, as it can affect the warranty of the piece.

Even for water-resistant watches, you should adhere to the following precautions:

Ensure the screw-lock crown is tightly secured before entering the water, and avoid operating the crown when it is wet.
After immersion, dry your watch immediately. If exposed to salt water, clean it following the recommended procedures.
Should any moisture penetrate the case, take your watch to a jeweler or watchmaker without delay to prevent any damage.
To maintain the longevity of your timepiece, replace parts frequently exposed to water, such as the crown and seals, every two years.

Shock Resistant

While watches like Baby-G and G-Shock models are designed to be shock-resistant to a certain degree, it is not advisable to deliberately test the limits of your watch's durability. To ensure the longevity of your timepiece, avoid exposing it to severe shocks, such as dropping it from significant heights or onto hard surfaces.

Magnetic Resistance

Your watch is designed to operate normally around common household appliances like TVs and radios without issues. However, it is important to keep it away from magnets and objects containing magnets, as exposure to magnetic fields can cause your watch to run slower or faster. If your watch is subjected to magnetic exposure, it is crucial to have it examined and serviced by a specialist in watch repair to address any potential issues.

Chemicals

Chemicals found in perfumes, colognes, and cleaning products can accumulate in the small crevices of your watch, potentially affecting its functionality. It is important to safeguard your watch from prolonged exposure to such chemicals and gases. Additionally, if your watch has a leather band, these chemicals can weaken the material, leading to deterioration. If your watch does come into contact with any harmful chemicals, follow the cleaning and maintenance advice previously outlined to mitigate any damage.

User Guides

Upon purchasing a new watch, the most crucial step is to thoroughly read the accompanying manual. This manual contains essential information about your timepiece, including operational instructions, how to adjust the time, and importantly, how to properly care for it. It is advisable to read this manual attentively and store it in a secure location where it can be easily accessed, as you may need to refer to it again in the future.
